This Privacy Policy explains what the ProTabs browser extension ("ProTabs", "we") does with your information. It is a product-specific addendum to the LogicalWe company privacy policy at https://www.logicalwe.com/privacy-policy; where the two differ for ProTabs, this document controls.
ProTabs is a tab and workspace manager for Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera). It lets you organize open tabs into "Spaces", save and restore session snapshots, attach notes and resources to a Space, auto-suspend inactive tabs to save memory, and optionally back up your data to your own Google Drive.
The following data is stored on your device using the browser's `IndexedDB` and `chrome.storage.local`. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable Google Drive backup (Section 2.2):
- Spaces you create and their settings
- Tabs inside each Space: URL, title, favicon URL, pinned state
- Session snapshots you save
- Resources attached to a Space: notes, markdown, and file attachments
- Extension settings and sleep/auto-suspend exclusion rules
- A cache of favicons
- A pointer to the last-active tab
- Your license key (if you have purchased a paid tier)
- A randomly generated anonymous client ID
- Your analytics opt-out preference
If — and only if — you sign in with your Google account inside ProTabs and enable Auto-backup, ProTabs uploads data in Section 2.1 (your license key is excluded) to your own Google Drive, using the hidden `appDataFolder` location.
The `appDataFolder` is private to ProTabs: it is not visible in your normal Google Drive view and is not accessible to any other app or website. ProTabs cannot see, read, or modify any other file in your Drive.
OAuth scopes requested:
- `https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata` — read/write only inside ProTabs's own hidden folder
- `openid`, `email`, `profile` — to display which Google account is connected
- License validation: When a paid license is used, limited information required to validate the license may be transmitted to our licensing service. No tab data, URLs, titles, or personal information are sent.
- Update/rollout configuration: ProTabs periodically fetches a small read-only configuration file used to roll out features and signal a minimum supported version.
- Optional analytics: If analytics is ever enabled, only aggregate event counts are sent. Only limited, non-sensitive URL information is transmitted, and tab titles and page contents are never transmitted. We cannot link past anonymous events back to you to delete them individually, because they were never tied to your identity in the first place. You can opt out at any time in Settings.
ProTabs does not sell personal data and does not use your data for advertising.
ProTabs's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adhere to the [Google API Services User Data Policy](https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, the data ProTabs accesses through your Google account:
- is used solely to provide the backup and restore feature you have explicitly enabled;
- is not sold;
- is not used for advertising, including personalized or retargeting ads;
- is not transferred to others except as needed to provide the feature, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with continued protection;
- is not read by humans, except (a) with your explicit consent, (b) for security investigations or to prevent abuse, or (c) to comply with applicable law.
The `drive.appdata` scope is the minimum required for backup. ProTabs cannot read, list, or modify any file in your Drive outside its own hidden folder.
The extension's manifest requests these permissions for the following reasons:
- `tabs`, `tabGroups`, host access to `<all_urls>` — to read each open tab's URL, title, and favicon so you can organize tabs into Spaces and save session snapshots. ProTabs never injects content scripts and never reads page contents.
- `storage` — local persistence of your Spaces and settings.
- `alarms` — the periodic timer that drives auto-suspend and auto-backup.
- `identity` — Google OAuth, used only when you sign in with Google or enable Drive backup.
- `sidePanel`, `contextMenus`, `notifications` — UI surfaces.
- Local data persists on your device until you uninstall the extension or clear it from Settings.
- Google Drive backups persist in your private `appDataFolder` until they are deleted by you, by the auto-delete rule you configure in Settings (by age in days, by total size, or by number of files), or by uninstalling and revoking ProTabs's access.
- To delete everything:
1. Google Drive backups (only if you signed in and enabled backup): Open ProTabs Settings → Backup, select the backup files, and click Delete selected. You can also delete them directly from your Google Drive.
2. Uninstall the extension from your browser.
3. Revoke ProTabs's access to your Google account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Local data is stored in the browser's sandboxed storage. Communication with Google Drive uses HTTPS and OAuth 2.0. ProTabs runs under a strict Manifest V3 Content Security Policy and does not load remote code.
ProTabs is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you use ProTabs outside Gujarat (India), please note that your locally stored data remains on your device, and any Drive backups are stored on Google's infrastructure, subject to Google's own terms and privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, noted in extension release notes.
